We have been busy in the music department this fall. My coordinators (Brittany, Ginger and Kasey) and I have been focusing most on the new fall releases. Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have selected tracks from some new and returning favorites. Lady Gaga, The Fratellis, The 88, The Virgins and The Little Ones all have new albums that can be heard in the first handful of episodes. We have also started work on a Gossip Girl take on a classic NYC 70's song for a key scene in an upcoming episode. More on that soon.

xoxo

I posted this at The CW board, but thought it would be worthwhile re-posting it here since this site is dedicated to Gossip Girl music:

Regarding the November 4th video blog by Alex Patsavas (posted on The CW site):

I must respectfully disagree with Alex's assertion that "[...]if you don't see a song or a band for the spot you were thinking of it's probably great music by our composing team The Transcenders". I'm sure if she were to compare her cue sheets with what The CW posts, she would notice significant omissions (even discounting the classical music which is rarely named). There were many songs in the first season which were used in the show but not listed on The CW's site (eg. "Alright" by Shiloh, "Something Like That" by Tim, "Stick With Me Kid" by The Broken Remotes, etc).

I would sincerely hope that Alex would reconsider, and post a COMPLETE listing of the songs used in the show. It's what the fans want.

Hey people from Chop Shop Music Supervision!

I added you guys on myspace about 2 weeks ago, mainly because I absolutely love your work. I realized watching the OC how amazing all the songs you chose were. You guys fit the music to every scene and detail of the show.I downloaded all the OC mixes. Now, I download all of the Gossip Girl songs.

I am also wondering how you become a music supervisor and what I would need to pursue in college and after to follow that path.
